Oranjestad, Aruba
Capital of the island. Name for the King Willem van Oranje-Nassau (William of Orange-Nassau), the first heir to the Dutch House of Orange. The city was found around Fort Zoutman in 1796. Originally the fort was located on the water, but now sits inland as parts of the harbor have been filled in. Originally known as Horses' Bay Harbour as horse being delivered to the island would be thrown overboard here and swim to shore.
